PHNOM PENH: NagaWorld has refused to consider the offer of exchange options between workers who are currently employed and want to resign, with workers who want to return to work, on the basis that the company already has more workers employed than it currently needs.

In a statement issued on the progress of resolving the joint labor dispute at NagaWorld on Monday, 21 March 2022, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training said that so far, there are still about 200 workers who continue to demand being allowed to return to work. At the same time, about 300 currently emloyed workers have agreed to resign in exchange for those 200 workers to get their jobs back.

The side of the NagaWorld workers' union is asking the employer to complete the plan to reduce its staff and allow the workers who wish to return to work to come back. However, the company has denied this option, saying that it already has about 600 workers, which is more than the company needs a the moment.

The company has responded saying that for the 300 people who want to resign, they can submit their resignations, and the company will pay the necessary compensation in line with voluntary resignation.

At the same time, the NagaWorld workers are still fighting to bring up other points in the arbitration order as it is beneficial not only for the laid-off workers but also for those who are still employed.

The two sides have agreed to schedule another meeting on Wednesday, 23 March, at 14:30 PM, after negotiations did not yet reach an agreement. While the Ministry said that if negotiations still cannot solve this issue, the next solution and procedure would be for both parties to file an official complaint to the court to find a final solution.
